Finding Wedding Photographers Online

Posted by Konradbraun in Career

Photography in general is a very popular industry. There’s the amateurs that shoot for fun, on up to the real professionals that shoot for more than just fun, but as a career. Working in the Photography field takes a certain kind of passion, in my opinion, than in other careers. With in Photography there seems to be two really large industries, Wedding Photography, and Fashion Photography.

Not only are these really popular careers but if you get in with the right company or use your services as a freelancer, this would be a great way to make extra money or make an actual income from it. If I was better at photographing people, this would definitely be my next big step. Unfortunately I prefer scenery and outdoorsy type photos instead of people.

Wedding photography in particular is a really well know type of service, I mean how many weddings are there in a one week period? Next time you get the paper look under the announcement section and see for yourself!

A Wedding Photographer usually charges per day and those fees usually amount to around $1,000-$5,000 per day. That actually doesn’t seem that bad to me, If you really want a way to remember your wedding and be able to have extra things like a memory book or DVD or whatever other things they offer. Of course some Photographers charge less than this and others charge more than this. In the end, as well as with everything else in life, who you get and what you get depends on your own personal preference and what you can afford to spend.

There’s this one site in particular I found online called DmitriMarkine and they specialize in Toronto Wedding Photography. It seems like a really neat website, very to the point. And there’s lots of great information on their site about who they are and what they do. If your going to search online for Wedding Photographers this is the type of site you will want to look out for. Its very honest, and simple. And they also include prices, options, and most importantly a phone number so you can get in contact with them. And if the picture examples on the site belong to DmitriMarkine, then this would also be another thing you would want to look out for.

See if the site that your checking out either has pictures on the website that are theirs or they have a portfolio of some sort online. Usually when you do these kinds of businesses online, have it be photography, web design or home decorating services, they always provide some sort of a visual for you. If the site doesn’t offer something like this, then its probably a good idea to move onto another site, unless of course you can call them and they have a portfolio available elsewhere, either online or offline.

Just remember a wedding is something you will cherish forever but that also doesn’t mean you absolutely need to hire the first Wedding Photographer you see! Check them out, see if they have a guest book of some sort. Or check out your Sunday paper. They always have write ups about businesses in there.

Don’t Waste Your Time On Low Start Up Businesses

Posted by Mixedherbs in Career

If you want to get in on the action here are some tips on how to run an online business. When you start your Internet home business, you can, with marketing knowledge, reach more customers than you ever thought possible. When starting an online business, it is crucial to have a plan for how you will reach your customers, how you will keep your customers coming back to your website and most important, how you will convert website visits into sales.

As a home based entrepreneur you must learn to operate your home business start up on a sensible budget. New technologies and brilliantly designed new tools have opened up worlds of opportunity that make it easier and cheaper than ever to start and immediately start profiting. Not everyone can start a home based business and make $1000 daily but it most certainly can be done.

The best website in the world would be absolutely useless without marketing. When you run an Internet business you will find that online marketing is about education, it is also about eliminating obstacles and implementing what has been proven to work. Your success is not determined by how much money you invest, it is determined by the marketing knowledge that comes from your online marketing education.

There are comprehensive website training resources available that guide you through the start-up process and provide internet marketing tools. Internet business start up ideas abound on the internet and it is just a matter of doing some good research to find the low cost or free ways to get started, obtaining your products to sell and then applying internet marketing methods that work.

Network marketing came into its own with the advent of the Internet. Many of these made some of their members a fortune, others have sunk as quickly as they surfaced but that doesn’t mean that they don’t work because they do. Our attention was initially caught by the following program because both Rachel Long and Mike Glaspie, the two most successful Network Marketers of all time, head the Top Sponsors List. Seeing one of those names is very significant, both in the same place, is even more so.

In many respects starting and operating an Internet business is similar to operating any other business, it is the marketing that is different. As always, offering the right product to the right market is still the most effective way to gain success at any business. A web site is a great way to provide better service to current customers but does not provide a direct path to attract new ones with out specialised marketing knowledge.

If you have a successful bricks and mortar business and are looking to broaden your customer base, you may have considered adding a ‘brochure’ website to advertise your service. A brochure site can not be considered ‘online marketing’ and you would need plenty of marketing expertise to develop a brochure into a sales site to make a difference to your business. The successes we hear about have gone through the research and learning curve to be able to produce successful developments of this nature.

It is essential that you learn from others who are already successful. So talk to others who have an interest in helping you and have already made money in the niche that you have chosen then implement the steps they took.

Internet success takes time, effort and knowledge. With only basic marketing skills there is a limit to what you can do, that isn’t to say that you can not, with determination and the will to become successful, develop a home business system successfully and make a profit but to gain essential experience and knowledge, not to mention fast money, joining an existing online business could be a better alternative.

There is a very interesting UK Cash Gifting operation chugging along very well in the United Kingdom, A group of experienced Internet marketers have adapted one of the Gifting Clubs for concentrating on the United Kingdom market, GB Pounds are changing hands at a very rapid rate indeed, get some.

A Great Alternative To Being Your Own Boss

Posted by Snicolle in Career

Many people who are above ground , breathing , and walk with their eyes open probably have dreamt of being a business owner where you can control your working hours and earn a great income without having a boss down your throat.

How it begins is people visualize the end result without realizing the toil one has to go through in order to get there. For instance , it could be the time away from being with their spouse which can result in marital troubles , the financial stress that can occur during the building up of a business , or even once the business is built up the effort required to keep it going.

Let’s face it not all of us can be a Donald Trump or Ray Kroc. There is a lot of sacrifices that have to be made. How many have seen successful business owners who have failed marriages , or kids who turned out wrong just because the parent never spent any time with them when they were growing up. Often I hear from a business owner not to do what they did just because they felt in the end the unbalanced lifestyle they led to chase success was not worth the failed relationships that occurred during process.

Although I admire such entrepreneurs who are risk takers and business savvy and have incredible lifestyles , I for one would not trade my profession for any other on the planet. It has both an element of risk which a self employed person relishes , and security for someone who still wants the insurance of a paycheque to feed his family.

I am a Food and Beverage Waiter in a busy restaurant. For those of you who currently are a waiter and make a living from being one and do not rely on any other form of income you will understand what I am about to explain.

First of all our hourly wage is so low that no one could possibly live on it alone which makes us right there with the self employed business owner who has to get up in the morning to drum up business. However unlike the business owner we get paid for showing up and ready for work and every two weeks it goes into our bank account.

The next great advantage to being a waiter is , unlike the business owner who has to chase people to pay what they owe , we get paid every time we serve a table upon the guest’s departure. This means the waiter lives in a world of instant gratification. What could be better than that ! Leaving work with more money in your pocket than what you came with.

What we can earn is entirely up to us. A selling of a feature on the menu or a great bottle of wine can incur a greater tip thus like a self employed entrepreneur we can be highly motivated as well to provide great service.

Also , the waiter has the excitement of not knowing if it is going to be a really good day or an average day which is not unlike the self employed person. The difference being is with each new day the waiter will make money whereas the other may not. Thus the waiter never will go through the anxiety of a self employed person.

A guest to a restaurant is always there to enjoy a positive experience. In other words to make their day. A self employed person usually has to fix or repair something so the whole scene has a negative influence. They have to present the bill after to the disgruntled customer. The waiter gets the big tip!

Waiters can make anywhere up to $300 a day in gratuities and go home without having to worry about work and carry on with their life. They drive the newer cars and have enough left over to put in their children’s education fund unlike the self employed who awake in the middle of the night worried about how they are going to find their next customer or meet their next payment.

If the waiter takes seriously their profession and is a good money manager they can have just as much time off to enjoy their spouse , children , and home as anybody else can.

Have you heard of the expression , ” People with money have no time then there are people who have no money but a lot of time.” I believe if you are a Food and Beverage waiter you can have a lifestyle balance where you can have both time and money. Unless you are gifted and have the guts to be a Donald Trump or other business tycoon consider becoming a waiter or bartender even if it just part time. Find out what it is like to get paid right away and use your gratuities to pay off debt or go on a holiday. You will be glad you did.

Fire Marshal Discovers Arson–And Humanity

Posted by Flashni in Career

The job of a fire marshal in the United States is often like the job of a private investigator: thankless and fascinating. But a private investigator’s role is usually punitive: figure out who’s scamming the insurance company, say, or where the ex-convict who broke parole ran to. A good fire marshal, on the other hand, never forgets one critical rule: fire safety comes first, no matter what.

Paul Maldonado, fire marshal for the State of Texas, was called in to investigate the recent fire at the Austin mansion of Governor Rick Perry. In retrospect, it must have seemed inevitable that the building would be targeted for arson. Perry, former lieutenant Governor under President Bush, inherited much of the ill will that the student population in Austin held for the Texas Republicans, and his reign as Governor was marked by occasional scandal and a rising discontent among the electorate. The 2007 announcement that the Governor’s mansion would be remodeled to the tune of $10 million–including a state-of-the-art fire suppression system–must have been, in retrospect, the last straw. On the night of June 8, 2008, that straw burst into flames.

Maldonado and his video surveillance team knew who the suspect was–roughly, of course. He fit the established profile: young, twenty-something, athletic. Angry, even. In a press conference, Maldonado proposed that this anger was the cause of the arson. He might be angry “at the death penalty– and other political issues,” Maldonado said. “His feelings of anger and frustration will be noted by people who know him.”

A government official, a mysterious fire, a political radical, a confrontation. In most situations, this would be a clear opportunity for power and authority to assume their roles, for the government official to make clear, punitive statements. But that’s not what Maldonado–a fire marshal, after all, did.

“To the person or persons responsible for this crime I would like to relay a message,” said Maldonado in the same conference. “We are concerned with your safety.”

He went on to explain: the video footage showed a man with some experience throwing incendiary devices. Fire is a terrible thing to experiment with, warned Maldonado. The arsonist chose a dangerous means of sending a message to the governor–dangerous not only to the mansion, but to the arsonist. And more: Maldonado said that he appreciated, above all, the willingness of the arsonist to wait until the Governor was away, until the mansion was deserted, to set his fire.

“We will not forget that,” the fire marshal said.

The investigation goes on, of course. But what it reveals about the investigator is almost more fascinating than the eventual identity of the culprit. It’s rare to find a public official who truly concerns himself with what’s really important in criminal matters: the threat to public safety, and the value of human life. It takes a fire marshal, in the end, to say that he appreciates his quarry for valuing human life.

The Benefits Of Student Jobs

Posted by Shuey03 in Career

It is a common occurrence for students to have jobs while working toward graduating college. Many have realized with the consistent increase in college tuition, jobs are the only way to afford postsecondary educations.

Holding down a job while enrolled in college can be very stressful for a student. College departments that offer student jobs tend to have a better understanding of the academic demands that are placed on the students that they hire. Since many of the college departments only hire for part time help, it is not hard for them to work around their schedules. Other employers, that are not part of the college environment, may not be as willing to work around class schedules.

Finding student jobs on campus can be beneficial. Students, who are able to help run the campus, are more likely to adjust to college life.. Jobs on campus are a great way for students to meet other students and get to know their peers and professors. Campus jobs are usually offered in many areas like the bookstore, cafeteria, and several administrative offices.

At most universities nationwide, those working student jobs account for nearly 25% of the universities non-professional staffing. Staff members hold important positions that contribute to the overall success of the universities.

Despite all the stress and grief that employment can cause to some, seeking employment during the academic school semesters may be inevitable. With the raising cost of college tuition, many students are finding that federal financial aid and or student loans are not capable of covering all tuition related expenses. For those that are able to get a free ride, employment is needed to cover the cost of expensive college textbooks and a little extra spending money.

It may seem that the more hours jobs take out of the students weekly schedules, the worse students will do in their classes. Studies have shown that this is not the case at all. It has been observed through several studies that students who are employed do as well and in some cases better than those who are not working jobs. The same studies found that grades tend to improve the more hours a student works during a week, but the improvement levels off if one works more than 20 hours per week.

Students who are employed during schooling are not only more likely to receive better grades, but are more likely to complete a degree program than their non working peers. Also, jobs are beneficial after graduation. When an employment position comes down to several candidates with the same educational qualifications, employers are more inclined to hire the graduate who has work place experience. Having a job while attending college shows the potential employer that you are able to manage your time, stay organized, work hard, and multi-task.

Even if their jobs are unrelated to the students career path, they will still develop work related competencies and many work place skills that are transferable to any career sector.

Making the decision to work toward a college degree may be the most important step in securing a bright future. Working, while attending college, may also be a step in the right direction. Remember whether its building good resumes, creating lists of good references, or learning important time management skills, student jobs are not only a source of money, but may be the main factor in getting great jobs after graduation.

How To Effectively Manage A Dining Room Team

Posted by Snicolle in Career

To be an effective Dining Room Manager there are certain attributes you should have to run an efficient food and beverage operation each meal service. There are a lot of managers out there who are great at doing the paperwork as in making the schedules and calculating the food cost but if they do not know how to lead and build a team in the Dining Room they will soon find themselves unemployed very quickly.

First of all when you start in such a position you must know the reason you were hired in the first place. Were you told upon hiring what improvements or changes had to be made? What was going well? On one occasion in a very new restaurant I was specifically hired to train the inexperienced staff to serve
better, thereby making them more productive on the floor. This in turn positively affected labour cost. On another occasion hired as a Maitre’d on the ship the staff was experienced so my main goal was to get the different nationalities working together as a tight knit group within a system. Therefore in order to succeed know what it is you have to do. Don’t fix anything if it isn’t broke.

Now you know why you are there and what needs to be done. The next thing you have to do is work every shift. Yes you will lose some beauty rest at the beginning but I have seen a lot of managers who will only work one shift such as the evening and not have a clue what is happening during the breakfast shift until it is too late and the complaints are coming in. You have to be there every shift to watch and observe your staff , system in place , how the food comes out , teamwork , presentation , just to name a few things on the list. Of course take a day off but in the first 2 weeks work a lot. See what is going on.

During this inaugural couple of weeks help out in the dining room as well. Help with the expediting of service , table check with guests on how they are enjoying their dining experience. Never stop doing table checks. I believe in the hands on approach rather than the delegating approach. Even if it is doing something as simple as getting bread for a table or delivering some drinks to help a waiter who is in the weeds. Remember if a waiter gets swamped for a minute it is the guest who suffers. Put your ego aside and muck in and help.

Here is another gem to being a successful leader in the dining room. Understand a waiter will never admit to needing help even if they have 10 things to do , so if you step in when you see trouble before it happens and help out without being asked that waiter will be putty in your hands. Remember if you are observant and on the floor you can do this. Always be on the floor during service. This will eliminate all service problems and complaints. I know because that is the way I did it. Works like a charm.

Another downfall that occurs which causes failure is the human need to be one of the buddies. A lot of managers want to be liked rather than respected. To achieve respect do not socialize with your service personnel. If you want something done the next day and you have been socializing with that person you need to talk to , do not expect a good result. After all , last night you put yourself in a compromising position saying how great a person they are. You may get away with it once but do yourself a favour and keep your distance in a nice way. Your main concern is getting everyone to work together. Do not show favourites either or the others will see it and you are doomed to failure.

To develop teamwork you must talk to the group as a whole. Everybody has to be on the same page. Always if you want improvement explain how you want something done and why it should be done that way. People will want to know the why before they do anything different.

Heap praise on your staff. Even if you find very little at the beginning praise the good things so that they will listen to you when you ask them to do something better another way.

Assuming you are a people person , you should be sincerely interested in your staff. Find out what motivates them. Be interested in your guests. This is a people business. Work with your assistants and communicate with everyone. If you want to have people do things for you let them know what has to be done and show your appreciation. Be a people builder.

Train others by sharing your knowledge. People want to do a good job better if they could. People will beat a path to your door if you show them you care. Emphasize to your staff that it is all about the service.

In concluding , to be a leader of many in a restaurant demands your time , knowledge , and a fair dose of psychology but if you are willing to excel in all three the rewards can be great. Don’t just seek to be average , seek to be great.
